Is Cement Tile FIRED or NOT FIRED?

Cement Tiles are NOT fired like porcelain and ceramic tiles.

 

What is the durability of Cement Tile?

The tiles derive their durability from the combination of finely dehydrated ground Portland cement layer and a more coarse layer of sand and cement.

 

What is the thickness of Cement Tile?

8x8 = 16mm

 

How do I install Cement Tile?

Install in accordance with version of ANSI A108 for Installation of Ceramic Tile

•Use high quality LHT (Large Heavy Tile Mortar).
•Use a large notch trowel (1/2”) and specify 100% coverage
 
 
What is a subtable substrate for Cement Tile? 

Cement tiles must be installed on a leveled, clean and dry surface or suitable sub-floor or vertical surface. 

(Dry wall is NOT recommended due to the weight of tile and mortar)

 

What size grout joints should I use with Cement Tile? 

•1/16” to 1/8” grout joint is recommended

 Grout Joint Standards:

•Un-sanded grout = 1/16” – 1/8”
 
 
What steps should I take before grouting Cement Tile? 
 
•Use a grout release or a sealer before grouting to prevent grout from staining tiles.
•White or light colored grout to be used.
(Dark grout to be used with caution)
 
 
Should I seal Cement Tiles?
 
•You should seal tiles before and after grouting, upon completion of the installation.
•Allow 24-48 hours for tiles and mortar to be completely dry before sealing.
 
•TILES HAVE TO BE SEALED!
 
 
How do I care of Cement Tiles?
 
•Cement tile to be treated similar to natural stone.
•Cement tiles can be cleaned with natural soap and clean water.
•Never use harsh detergents or acid.
